This 2-hour workshop will cover: “soft skills” companies are looking for; what to do before, during and after an interview; importance of appearance and punctuality, non-verbal communication and the 12 most common interview questions. Presenter Bob Schlacks worked for Human Resources at AT&T, and is retired from Waubonsee Community College, where he worked in community relations and recruited adult students.

Anthony spent her lifetime fighting for women’s equality, including the right to vote. Hear the story of how one woman’s dedication and determination made a difference in helping to change history.

The Helen Plum Library is pleased to announce the Adult Services Department now provides extended internet use to HPL cardholders.
Cardholders may use the internet up to four hours per day, unless others are waiting. This extended service was made possible due to our recent expansion to twenty-four internet terminals.
Not sure which electronic devices to choose for your holiday shopping list? The array of gadgets can be mind-boggling! This program will give you the chance to get your hands on e-readers, tablets (think iPad), netbooks and other electronic devices. A PowerPoint presentation will also give an overview of devices and their capabilities.
Patrons must register for programs unless otherwise noted. Avoid disappointment by registering in advance. Regrettably, we must cancel events with fewer than the minimum number of registrants. Please register for programs by calling the Adult Services Department or stopping by the Helen Plum Library.

Designed with library lovers in their 20s through 40s in mind, Library Lounge is a monthly meetup at varying locations in the Lombard area. At meetings, which are usually the third Tuesday of the month, we hang out, support the establishment hosting us, and discuss a new book. Titles chosen are a mix of contemporary fiction, classics, and nonfiction.
