We are looking for dedicated teen volunteers to assist with the 2014 Summer Reading Program: Fizz Boom Read. VolunTeens work 2 hours each week in June, July, and early August at the Youth Services summer reading registration table. Applications for the Volunteen program will be available at the Youth Services desk and online at helenplum.org/youth-services. VolunTeens selected to participate must attend an orientation session on: Thursday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. or Saturday, May 31 at 10:00 a.m.
Reading program for babies - grade 8
Rewards can be earned through Sunday, April 27.
If you’ve finished your Join the Club reading log, be sure to reap the rewards of all your hard work! With each completed log, you will earn a book and prize. Our reading program is self-paced and independent. Stop by Youth Services for more details, to register, or to redeem your reading log. Registration required.

Fizz Boom Read is our 2014 Summer Reading theme and we are looking for some original book and science themed artwork. The winning entries will be used for new mouse pad designs in Youth Services. You can create your entry at home or use supplies we provide in Youth Services. Winning designs will be announced during Children’s Book Week, May 12 - 18. Winning designers will receive a mouse pad, too!

Sing, play and dance with ScribbleJim and ScribbleJayne! ScribbleMonster’s award-winning approach to music, movement and other activities encourages each child’s own unique and creative participation. ScribbleMonster is acclaimed by Parenting Magazine and NPR. Tickets required.

Families can build skyscrapers, vehicles, and other awe-inspiring creations with our collection of Legos! Once your project is complete, we’ll take a photo of you and your Lego® creation to proudly display in Youth Services. If you can’t make it this month, don’t worry - Lego® Club will be held monthly on the fourth Saturday. Children attend with a participating adult. Younger siblings are welcome - Duplo bricks are available for siblings under 5 years old. Registration required.
iPads are now available for in-house use in the Youth Services Department. The iPads are pre-loaded with kid-friendly apps. Stop by the Youth Services desk for more information. The iPads are available courtesy of the Edgar Robbins Fund, established due to the generosity of Carol Anne Robbins.
