Sewing Machines Launch with Beginner-Level Craft

Posted on:

We're *sew* excited to launch a new drop-in program to welcome aspiring sewists to our Studio 411 makerspace! On Sat, Mar 30, and Sat, Apr 27, stop by Studio 411 from 10:30am-12:30pm to check out the sewing machines and make a beginner-level project.

We'll be starting with a simple sandwich wrap that is washable, reusable, and easy to make! This craft is perfect for beginners and will teach you the basic operations of our Baby Lock Zest sewing machines.

No experience? No problem. Our friendly staff will be available to answer questions about the Library's sewing machines during these drop-ins. Sewing machines are available for ages 18 and up, but library kids are welcome with their library grown-ups.

Adult Services Librarian Heather will be helping out, and she's looking forward to welcoming new makers. "Basic sewing is such a useful life skill, and I'd like everyone to feel comfortable with it. I'm really excited that Helen Plum is providing access for our patrons to experience these machines and gain confidence in what they can accomplish!"

Mark your calendars for these drop-ins! Plus, you can stay updated on Studio 411 news and programs by subscribing to the Studio 411 makerspace email newsletter.
