3D Print Request Guidelines
Studio 411's 3D printing service is available to cardholders to make three-dimensional objects using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file.
Patrons are not permitted to use the Library's 3D printer to create objects that are:
- Prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
- In violation of Library Policy.
- Obscene or inappropriate for the Library environment.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or pose a threat to the well-being of others.
- Weapons or weapon-related, including but not limited to components, accessories, and facsimiles.
- In violation of the terms of use of the manufacturer of the 3D printer.
- In violation of a person or company’s intellectual property rights. For example, a 3D printer may not be used to reproduce objects which are protected by a copyright, patent, or trademark.
The Library reserves the right to review and approve all materials before printing. The 3D design may be examined to ensure compliance with these guidelines and that the design is capable of production. If there is a problem with the design and/or production, the patron will be informed of the problem(s) and the change(s) needed before the design can be printed.
In addition, the Library reserves all rights to:
- Refuse any 3D print request for any reason.
- Stop printing a request due to time or printer capabilities.
- Limit the number of print requests.
- Charge users for print requests.
- Limit access to 3D printing services to Helen Plum Library cardholders.
The Library cannot guarantee product quality, satisfaction, color, equipment availability or stability, confidentiality of design, or specific delivery times.
3D printers will only be operated by designated Library staff. Patrons may only gain access to 3D printing services by submitting this form.
