Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a service opportunity for teens in grades 6–12 during the school year. TAB members help guide the programs and services the Helen Plum Library offers teens. Additionally, they help with various projects around the Library. Participating in TAB is a great way to give back to the Lombard community!
As a member of TAB, you will:
- Get together with other teens to talk and discuss issues facing teens today.
- Help decide what events and services our Library offers to teens.
- Work on projects such as displays for youth and teens.
- Earn service hours!
Volunteen Squad
Volunteen Squad is a service opportunity for teens in grades 9-12 during the school year. Each meeting focuses on different activities that benefit the community.
As a Volunteen Squad participant, you will:
- Process books for upcoming Pop-up Book Sales.
- Make hats and scarves to be distributed at Outreach House.
- Assist with many different library-related tasks.
- Earn service hours!
Summer Volunteen Program
The Summer Volunteen Program is a service opportunity for teens entering grades 9-12. The program runs during summer break with orientation and training sessions in May. Volunteens assist at the Summer Reading Desk in the Youth Services Department and are expected to volunteer for a weekly shift.
As a summer Volunteen, you will:
- Check reading logs for children and families.
- Help with prize distribution for children and families.
- Assist with other library-related tasks as needed.
- Earn service hours!
Volunteens must apply, be accepted into the program, and attend orientation and training to be eligible to volunteer. More information about the upcoming Summer Volunteen Program, including the application, will be available in March.
